Each August, just as the summer season slowly approach- es its close and the fall teases with light breezes and the hint of sweater weather, a different kind of breeze falls on New York City. Every August, Showcase International hosts a star-making event to find the most talented and driven individuals looking for their breaks in acting, modeling and entertainment. Kept at a manageable level, Showcase
International helps these impressionable and unique men and women find their niche and celebrate their true talents. With the right direction and guidance, stars are born in New York City. Each previous convention has seen success stories created and fresh faces discovered. stance, this year’s convention allowed the hundreds
of young men and women to showcase their acting chops by audi-
tioning for a major motion picture.
But this wasn’t just any first-time acting opportunity that these talented young thespians were auditioning for. It was for one of the most proven television franchises in the history of the picture box. It was for a film that has thrown an exclamation point on not only television lore, but motion picture box office dominance. These young actors and actresses showcased their skills for a role in Sex and the City 2.
The original debuted to an enormous opening weekend, raking in $55 million in three days, as rabid fans of the TV series hungered to see the further adventures of Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte and Carrie. The film eventually earned more than $152 million domestically and $262 million internationally. And there’s no doubt that the near $500 million success of the first film will mean equal success for the sequel.
With so many eyes on such a surefire Hollywood blockbuster, there’s certainly a huge possibility that this year’s Showcase International product will gain the attention and focus of many people throughout the silver screen industry. And this year’s lucky winner? Sharing the credits with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon will be Coleen Retzer.
