You don’t need a team of mice
and a magical pumpkin to be
Cinderella at this year’s Prom

The economic ups and downs of the past few months are enough to make a girl with a Prom on her calendar feel like Cinderella—wishing for a fairy godmother to grant her every wardrobe wish. Don’t feel bad if you’re a bit strapped this year for the extras, because you really can do more with less. It’s all in knowing how.

For a glimpse at what the Prom fashion scene is offering us this year, look no further than the fabulous array of styles represented in this year’s Pageantry and PromTime Fashion Showcase and perhaps you’ll notice what I did—opportunity. Cut off a small piece to fit the back of the earring (it should touch the front of your earlobe). Make sure you trim it so it won’t show. When it’s showtime, peel off the

GO BIG

If you’ll be wearing a solid color gown, you can of course go the more traditional silver or gold route or you can find a fabulous jewel in a matching or complementary shade. There are some great styles out there right now that are all about the cut and the color. Either way, stick to one major piece. If you go with big earrings, leave the necklace at home. Strapless gown and you want a starlet-worthy choker? Keep your ears on the spare side. Does your gown have a lot going on at the neckline? How about a glamour girl bracelet or even two?
