While Taylor Fitch enjoys her
final days as Miss America’s
Outstanding Teen, she’s also
making plans for career success

To hear Taylor Fitch talk about attending college is one of the most infectious forms of enthusiasm imaginable. At 18, the reigning Miss America’s Outstanding Teen is approaching the moment at which she will crown her successor and she’s taking this time to follow her own advice of living in the moment, enjoying her remaining days as MAOT by continuing to serve the U.S. Dream Academy and the Children’s Miracle Network.

As she sets her sights on a career as a forensic pathologist, Taylor still has plenty of time to reflect on the remarkable year she’s had.

Pageantry magazine: What are some of your most prized accomplishments from this past year? Taylor Fitch: I can’t really pick one thing that I’m incredibly proud of, but I’m just glad that I’ve had the opportunity to make a difference in several lives. To be a part of the U.S. Dream Academy was one of my favorite things. Visiting Philadelphia and the Dream Academy in Washington D.C. means a lot to me, and being able to make a difference in the kids’ lives was special. I’ve also kept working with the kids in organizing 5K races and publicizing them better through Taylor’s Teens, through which I get to work with them in a partnership. I’m very proud that I could give these kids an opportunity that they otherwise may not have.

PM: You’ll be attending Wofford College in the fall, what are your goals in regard to your education? TF: I’m going to try to finish out my undergrad at Wofford in pre-med and I’ll be majoring in Biology this fall. From there, I want to go to Duke and finish out medical school. It’s been my dream school since sixth grade. Eventually I want to become a forensic pathologist.
