By visiting www.choosethecrown.com, fans of the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant can vote for their favorite of the three Diamond Nexus Labs-designed crowns and watch as Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza presents that crown to her successor. The three designs have been named Hope, Unity and Peace, and three-dimensional views of each crown are available on the web site.

Miss Universe Pageant adds star power

Former Miss Rhode Island USA and Rhode Island Teen USA Claudia Jordan has been pegged to host the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant on August 23rd at the Atlantis Paradise Resort in the Bahamas. The 36-year old model and actress will share the stage with Access Hollywood host and co-host of the 2009 Miss USA Pageant Billy Bush. Claudia has formerly appeared as a model on Deal or No Deal and a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice.

Providing entertainment for the Miss Universe Pageant will be aspiring pop starlet and reality television icon Heidi Montag-Pratt. The former Hills star will sing during the live televised performance. ;

Allison Kreiger, Director of Communications for the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization and the former Miss Florida 2006, married Brian Walsh, an associate attorney in the Corporate Practice Group of Akerman Senterfitt in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, May 23rd, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida. ;

West Virginia’s Outstanding
Teen wins online vote

After months of online voting, West Vir- ginia’s Outstanding Teen 2008 Bethany Lojewski amassed an astounding 11,550 votes to win the Tony Bowls Collection and Pageantry & PromTime Photogenic Competition, featured on the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen web site. Bethany narrowly edged out Miss Oregon’s Outstanding Teen 2008 JoAnna Adkisson, who also had a remarkable 11,293 votes. For receiving the most votes, Bethany receives an exclusive Tony Bowls dress, a subscription to Pageantry magazine, a MAOT tote bag and publicity and promotion in the weekly MAOT email blast. ;

Katie Stam becomes face of dairy farmers

The American Dairy Association has added a new face as its celebrity spokesperson—Miss America 2009 Katie Stam. Raised on a dairy farm and a childhood regular at the local 4-H shows, Katie is quite familiar with the ADA and she has made it a personal goal to help bring attention to and spread awareness of farming communities throughout the country. ;
